Playing Soccer with VEX IQ Robots

Students were put into teams to build a VEX IQ robot and play a game of robot soccer. Students learned about active and passive manipulators as well as had the chance to experiment with simple robotics. Participants learned how to program their robots to drive around and compete in head to head soccer matches.

The Art of Cryptography

Students received a crash course in cryptography, learning how to implement famous cryptosystems, asymmetric cryptography and its role in blockchain wallets, and hashing.

Video Game Design with Python

Students learned Python fundamentals to develop their own basic game through an interactive programming tutorial. Attendees also acquired basic programming skills involving collaboration and further application of Python fundamentals.

Intro 2 h4cking: Web-app exploitation

Students leanred basic web app exploitation skills and put them to use by attacking a vulnerable demo site. Students  learned basic SQL injection attacks, cross site scripting, and how to break a user authentication service.

Tools for Programming

This session was an informative workshop for UConn faculty, staff, and students interested in learning about tools for programming. This event was a collaboration between OPIM Innovate and JetBrains, the developers of PyCharm, RubyMine, DataGrip and more.
