Voice technology, such as Amazon's Echo and Google Home, has revolutionized the way we interact with technology by allowing users to control devices and access information using voice commands. This has opened up new possibilities for accessibility, and the technology is being implemented in everything from homes to businesses. Smart technology also includes devices such as smart thermostats, security systems, and home appliances, which can be remotely controlled through a smartphone app or voice command.

Tech Kits are part of the walk-in service provided by Innovate Labs. There are three levels of difficulty meant for different users and their experience with the different technologies. Many of the Tech Kits build off each other as you progress.

Introducing Smart Technology

Description: SMART technology, short for “Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology,” refers to systems that give everyday objects cognitive awareness through tools like the internet of things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data. These systems allow devices to collect information, recognize patterns, and respond in useful ways, such as adjusting home lighting, tracking health with wearables, or managing traffic in cities. In practice, technologies like smart thermostats, sensors, and connected hubs demonstrate how physical objects can be linked with digital intelligence to create adaptive environments, offering benefits like efficiency, safety, and personalized experiences.

Creating Routines

Length: 45 Minutes

Description: Smart technology routines use connected devices and software to automate everyday tasks, creating smoother and more efficient experiences. These routines combine sensors, apps, and cloud services to trigger actions such as adjusting lighting, managing schedules, or coordinating appliances based on patterns of use. Smart accessories, like motion sensors, ring doorbells, smart plugs, and lights, connect to the internet and can be remotely activated, making them useful for automating chores and enhancing convenience. Working with the Nanoleaf
