Wearables
Wearables are pieces of hardware or any wearable technology that interfaces with or collect data from the user. These devices can collect data such as heart rate, blood pressure, or body temperature, playing a pivotal role in the medical field to monitor the vitals of patients. Creating smart devices that can facilitate user's lifes and tasks in healthcare.
What Are Tech Kit Modules?
Tech Kits are part of the walk-in service provided by Innovate Labs. Three levels of difficulty are designed for different experience levels — many kits build on one another as you progress.
Beginner
Demonstrating a Heart-Rate Monitoring System
Length: 30 Minutes Description: Using an Arduino microcontroller, a pulse sensor, LEDs, and a buzzer, students will assemble a circuit that detects changes in blood flow and translates them into visual and audio signals. The Arduino will process the sensor’s data and by programming the system through the Arduino software, users can observe heart rate patterns and explore how code influences the device’s responses.Intermediate
Creating a Wrist-Mounted Activity Monitor
Length: 45 Minutes Description: This tech kit builds a wrist-mounted activity monitor using Arduino, where students integrate sensors like a pulse sensor and accelerometer to track heart rate and movement. Participants learn how hardware, wiring, and code combine to create real wearable systems and customize outputs through programming.Advanced

Beginner
Integrate Speech Conversion with Python
Length: 30 Minutes Description: The tech kit introduces voice interface technology, which are software and devices that recognize and respond human speech. Students will explore systems like Siri and Alexa and how they process spoken commands, understand natural language, and generate speech output. By the end, both voice recognition and text-to-speech will be implemented in Python.Intermediate
Test Voice Recognition Systems
Length: 45 Minutes Description: Students will learn about the voice interfaces' features to process and execute voice commands from the user. This will emphasize the technology's accessibility for people who cannot rely on hands-based input. Using Python, students will learn how to input commands into a microphone so that the interface delivers a result based off it.Advanced
